What is lymphoma cancer

May 12, 2008

Lymphoma cancer is a type of cancer that involves the lymphatic system, an important part of the body’s immune system that fights disease and infection.  Lymphoma cancer is sometimes also called lymphnode cancer and is sometimes also refered to blood cancer and it is actually one common name that applies to two rather different disease types containing uncontrolled cell growth and internal changes in the lymph nodes or in organs that are connected to the lymphatic system; The two types are Hodgins lymphomia and non-Hodgekins limphoma (Hodgkins being the physician who gave the name to hotchkins disease).  Receiving a diagnosis of Hodgkin’s Lymphoma cancer is a very disconcerting experience to say the least.

If the tissue biopsy shows that you have lymphoma, other tests will be done to find out whether the cancer has spread, and if so, to where.
